What is a Vape Mod?
Vape mods are the sources of power behind vape kits. Also known as APV’s, (Advanced Personal Vaporisers), mods, as the name suggests, are modifiable, rebuildable devices that boost the power of a vape kit and allow the user to intake and exhale more vapour. The additional power that is generated through the mod is converted into heat and used to heat up the coil in a device’s tank to vaporise the e-liquid and produce the vapour that is inhaled.
In the majority of cases, vape kits will include mods as a part of the full set up, and you will not be able to vape by buying a mod alone. However, there are many situations in which we would recommend buying a mod as opposed to a vape device kit, such as if you are looking to customise your kit by upgrading your existing mod to one that that offers a more customised, functional vaping experience, if you are seeking a mod that features replaceable batteries as opposed to those that are built-in, or simply if you are hoping to customise the aesthetics of your vape kit further.
Vape mods offer you the highest level of control over the settings of your vape, directly affecting the amount of vapour you blow, the amount of flavour you taste, the temperature you fire at, and much more.
Heralded for their customisability, box mods can truly transform your vaping game and allow you to blow vapour exactly how you see fit.
Types of Vape Mods
Regulated Box Mods
Regulated box mods take an incredibly important factor into consideration – your personal safety. Encompassing each of the typical regulatory features that can be found with vape kits designed for beginners such as short-circuit protection, overheating protection, re-charge and firing cut-off and more, regulated box mod vapes allow you to tinker with your settings to fully personalise your vaping experience whilst staying within recommended ranges and the ever-important parameters of safety.
Mechanical Mods
Generally speaking, mech mods are more suited to vapers with more experience as they are unregulated and come without the traditional built-in features around safety and security that you can expect from regulated box mods and beginner vape kits. Instead of having power run through an electronic circuit that separates your battery from the coil as in a regulated mod, mechanical mods send power from your battery straight to the atomiser, granting you unrivalled levels of control over the device’s resistance – or lack of. Many users hoping to blow huge clouds opt for mech mods due to their unregulated resistance and often pair them with RTA/RDA tanks to maximise their cloud production.
Squonk Mods
Squonk mods are unique in that they are the only mod to contain a built-in bottle filled with e-liquid that is used to saturate your wicks and coils with e-liquid on demand. As they can store more e-juice than even some of the largest tanks on the market, they are the perfect option for vapers hoping to push the boundaries on cloud production without needing to carry additional juice. When you squeeze these mods to fire, the atomiser deck is fed through a small tube as the e-liquid travels upwards and saturates your coils. Upon release, any excess liquid is vacuumed away and back into the mod, reducing the risk of any juice spillage. The ultimate sub-ohm vaping experience, squonk mods you to step up your vaping game to reach the highest levels of wattage at the lowest resistances, rewarding you with maximum flavour, cloud production and battery life.
