What are Sub-Ohm Kits?

Sub-Ohm vape kits are advanced kits designed to bring you higher power outputs, more control, and a performance factor that’s second to none. The priority of Sub-Ohm vaping is to produce dense clouds of vapour, making most of them compatible with high VG e-liquids.

Sub-Ohm vape kits use coils below one ohm in order to generate more heat, bigger clouds and more intense flavour. Because they use high VG e-liquids with lower nicotine strength, they’re usually better suited for more experienced vapers.

Our Sub-Ohm vape kits tend to differ from regular vape kits in that they are specifically designed to allow for direct-to-lung (DTL) vaping. This Sub-Ohm vape style requires vapers to inhale vapour directly into their lungs without drawing it to their mouth first, as they would with MTL vaping.

These advanced kits also differ from standard vape kits in that they deliver more power and have more advanced built-in chipsets. However, the main difference is the Sub-Ohm coils in the device.

To be a Sub-Ohm device, it must use an atomiser with a coil resistance of 1.0 ohms or lower. Mesh coils are also great options for Sub-Ohm vape kits and mods due to their larger surface area. These coils require a greater power output. Any coil over 1.0 ohms is in plus-ohm territory. These higher resistance coils are, instead, used in starter kits that support MTL vaping.

What’s in a Sub-Ohm Vape Kit?

Some mods have a maximum wattage output of 230 watts or more for a high power output.

When choosing a Sub-Ohm kit, it’s important to check whether an internal battery is included. If the kit you choose doesn’t come with a built-in battery, you will need to take a look at our external battery options that are sold separately. Given that battery life degrades over time, choosing a vape kit with an external, replaceable battery might be worthwhile.

What are the best Sub-Ohm vape e-liquids?

The best e-liquids for Sub-Ohm vaping are high VG liquids with low nicotine strength (max 6mg). The thicker base in these liquids lets you blow large clouds and enjoy a smoother flavour for an epic sub ohm vaping experience. E-liquids with lower nicotine content allow vapours to fully enjoy the flavour and vapour performance that Sub-Ohm vaping kits are designed for.

As a reminder, when vaping from a box mod kit, we recommend using an e-liquid with a low nicotine level. Not only this, but your shortfill e-liquid should contain high proportions of vegetable glycerine, or in simpler terms, it should be a high-VG e-liquid. As you can imagine, these e-liquids will feature lower amounts of propylene glycol as a result – a ratio of at least 70% VG or higher is what you should aim for.

Unlike 50:50 e-liquid and those higher in PG, the consistency of high-VG e-liquid is thicker – the added viscosity offers an excellent vape experience by preventing them from vaporising too quickly. It also reduces the likelihood of burnt hits and all of the complications that come with them!
