Fruit Zilla runs at 70/30 VG/PG. That ratio needs a device that can handle the thicker liquid properly. Here’s what works well and what to avoid.
70/30 VG is well suited to sub-ohm tanks running coils between 0.15Ω and 0.4Ω. These coils wick quickly enough to handle the liquid’s viscosity and produce the kind of vapour output that makes the flavour really come through. If you’re already on a sub-ohm setup, Fruit Zilla will slot straight in without any adjustment.
A mesh coil pod kit running at 0.2Ω to 0.4Ω will handle 70/30 VG well. The wider coil surface area in a mesh coil means better wicking and more even flavour delivery. Avoid very low-power pod kits designed for 50/50 liquids – the thicker VG won’t wick fast enough and you’ll get dry hits.
MTL (mouth-to-lung) devices are designed for 50/50 or nic salt e-liquids. The narrower coils and lower wattage in most MTL kits can’t handle 70/30 VG properly, and you’ll likely find the flavour muted and the wicking sluggish. Stick to an RDL or DTL setup for this range.
