What are Shortfills?

Shortfills are types of e-liquids that come in larger bottles—most frequently 50ml and 100ml—which are filled slightly short of their capacity – hence the name. Whilst 50ml and 100ml shortfills are the most common sizes of these vape juices, these bottles will technically be 60ml and 120ml shortfills, as additional space has been provided. But why is this?

Shortfills are entirely nicotine-free and contain 0mg of nicotine, as they are largely focussed on their exquisite flavour profiles. However, as these bottles are not filled all the way to the top, the additional space provided offers vapers an opportunity to add their own nicotine shots to up their juice’s nicotine strength and mix their e-liquid to their preferred nicotine concentration.

Shortfills are sometimes referred to as shake & vapes, as to be sure that the nicotine has mixed correctly into the e-liquid, the shortfill will need to be shaken well after the nicotine has been added.

Shortfill eliquids have risen in popularity not just for their customisability, but their value also. Whereas back in the early days of vaping, users were limited to purchasing 10ml bottles, shortfills are now available in larger sizes of 100ml and even 200ml, meaning that stocking up on a juice that you enjoy vaping is much more of a possibility than ever before.

What are Nicotine Shots?

As mentioned above, the main focus of shortfill vapes is providing flavour profiles that are unrivalled by any other type of e-liquid. But what if as well as incredible flavour, you are looking for a nicotine hit to satisfy those nicotine cravings? Enter nicotine shots.

Nic shots are e-liquids that come in much smaller bottles (usually 10ml) and contain high concentrations of nicotine, and are most often used to top up a shortfill. Don’t worry about compromising the flavour of your shortfill, as nic shots are flavourless, they are intended to provide a nicotine boost, and that only.

To reach your desired nicotine concentration, you will need to squeeze drops of your nicotine shot into your shortfill, shake it up (once you have secured the lid!) and leave to diffuse for around ten minutes. As previously mentioned, nic shots are unflavoured, so it doesn’t matter whether you are adding them to menthol juices, fruity juices or anything else. However, there is one thing that you will need to take into consideration – you will need to make sure that the ratio of your nic shot is the same as that of your shortfill. What do we mean by this? If your e-liquid has a 70/30 VG/PG ratio (a sub-ohm, high VG e-liquid) you will need to ensure that your nicotine shot contains the same ratio. That way, you will ensure that you are getting the best vaping experience possible.
